Strain Overview
The Malabar mushroom, originating from India’s Malabar Coast, is a variant of the Psilocybe cubensis species. In nature, the Malabar mushroom has thick, dense fruits spread across the mountains and hills of India’s southwest coast.
Genus: Psilocybe
Species: P. Cubensis
Strain: Malabar
Spore Color: Purple to black
Strain Origin: India
Our Malabar spores are intended solely for microscopy and taxonomy purposes. Please note that sales will be declined to California, Idaho, & Georgia due to legal restrictions. Please check with your local laws and regulations before ordering.
Under the Microscope
Malabar coast spores are dark purple to black in color, sub-ellipsoid in shape, and measure 6-8 x 4-6 µm. They have a smooth surface texture and are randomly dispersed without a pattern. The spores are usually densely packed, making individual observation under the microscope difficult.
To properly research with our kit, prepare a microscope slide from a spore swab, sterilize the slide, and cover the slip with rubbing alcohol. Gently rub the swab onto the slide to transfer the spores. Add a small drop of water to the slide, cover with the coverslip, and gently press down to spread the spores out.
